What the World Needs Now: Jesus’ Return

A Sermon Based on Isaiah 11:1-10

This Sunday in Advent is our mountain peak just before Christmas. It’s the high point as we await the Christ child at Christmas. In keeping with that, this sermon looks at Isaiah's prophecy that is a direct prophecy of Jesus. It explores the threat of Jesus, the wisdom of Jesus, and the reign of Jesus. As it does so, it places the prophecy in our contemporary setting of 2020, asking listeners to make applications to their lives in time for the New Year.

Master Money: Zacchaeus

(A Sermon Based on Luke 19:1-10)

There are a number of problems that a modern Christian faces in this Scripture. 1) We are tempted to think too little of the Zacchaeus in the story. 2) We are tempted to think too little of the Jesus in the story. 3) We are tempted to respond too little to the story. This is a sermon that attempts to address those problems and, finally, give each listener a clear view of Jesus.

Pride is not just a sin. It’s the sin. It is public enemy number one. It is that which separates us from God and people. Why exactly is that? And, more than that, what does God do about that? Listen in.

Death to the Death in Your Thinking

(A Sermon Based on 1 Cor. 15:12-19)

There are far more non-sequiturs that happen than we know. Some are comical. Others are serious. Still others often happen unnoticed right there inside us. This is a sermon that seeks to undo the most fundamental non sequitur that regularly lives inside of Christians: the belief in death. Listen in to hope more deeply in life after Easter.

Easter is for All

(A Sermon Based on 1 Cor. 15:1-8)

Who is Easter for? We could say that Easter is for Peter. We could say that Easter is for James. Most of all, however, we could say that Easter is for all. This sermon is designed to help each person listening to think through what Easter means for them individually wherever they are at in life.
