This is a unique moment for us to consider what a true priority is. It’s, however, also so much more. This sermon aims to show that if Jesus were a priority, he would be every priority there is. In other words, he is so much more than a priority. He is everything. He is the treasure and the pearl that bring us God.
This sermon takes a look at fraternal twin parables. It examines how these parables contrast but finally looks at how they are the same. In the process, the ways in which the kingdom of God is hidden from us naturally is revealed to us by Jesus. What is the pearl? What is the treasure? What does it mean to sell everything and leave the marketplace?
Wealth has incredible, godlike characteristics. We use it to do amazing things like reduce our fear; control our future; and even control other people. It can be such a force of good in our lives. This teaching from Jesus is a call to turn away from that good and, more than that, find true power from Jesus to do that. Listen in!
